Welcome to the Dirt Drag Racing Association

Successful Race Weekend But Problems to Work Out

Monday, May 10, 2010 - David McMilllin, President DDRA

Our race this weekend was a success even though the lights failed us. I want to thank everyone for their support of our Dirt Drag Racing Association (DDRA) sanctioned race. I can assure all of you, the track owner is going to fix the problem before his next race.

But there are still some problems in our organization I want to address concerning attitudes.

Drag racing of any kind is not a perfect situation. You have all kinds of dirt and weather conditions to deal with unlike an asphalt or concrete track. We try hard and spend lots of time and money t o make things as perfect as possible. Also we are human and make some mistakes. We also have a lot of different classes to keep straight.

However, I can assure everyone we don’t make mistakes on purpose and would not show anyone favoritism. With that being said, we had a new track join our association with their own problems.

Racing is a very competitive sport but winning and losing is not as important as family fun or the safety of our people.

We had someone get mad over losing a race for whatever reason this weekend and almost run over a spectator returning to his pit. Then he threw his helmet 25’ in the air.

This is not what racing is all about and we hope these kind of things stop. A person getting hurt or being mad is not worth all this. We are here to have a good time.

If you are in a race and have a problem with anything – don’t get mad – stop your truck and come talk to us. But if you have a race issue, do not pull to the staging lane before it is resolved.  If you do and a race is run, the results of that race are final.

When you have two people in a race, one wins and one loses. Therefore all problems need to be resolved before the race takes place.

We have a great thing going and want to make it better. If anyone has any input, we would like to hear from you.

Our next event is going to be May 29th and 30th.

Hope to see y’all there.

David McMillin
