Lawnmower races at Louisiana Off Road Race Park

A little more than two months ago, Block High School hosted a lawnmower racing exhibition. It was so successful despite three prior days of rain, that the sponsoring group, Catahoula Parish’s Future Farmers of American (FFA) decided it was time for the real thing.

Saturday, May 22nd at the Louisiana Off Road Race Park, the FFA will host a full day of activities highlighted by their first ever lawnmower races.

“In addition to our own racers,” one of the parish FFA sponsor teachers Ron Bruitt said, “We hope to have all the professionals lawnmower racers back at well.”

Bruitt notes in addition to the lawnmower races there will also be 4-wheeler races, “They will both be drag style racing on 200’ drags. All races will be elapsed time (E.T.) racing utilizing the Christmas Tree and timing system.”

Continuing with the family theme, Bruitt said many other contests will fill day from three-leg races, potato on a spoon races, sack races, and 200’ of foot racing.

Gates open at 9 AM with registration at 9:15 AM. You can also Pre-Register Here. Race Entry Fees will be $20.

Time trials will start at 10 AM and the races begin at 12:30 PM

• 200' ET Lawnmower Drag Racing Safety Equipment Required
  

Drivers must use approved safety helmet along with appropriate eye protection.  Long pants, over the ankle boots and neck braces are mandatory. It is recommended that gloves, long sleeve shirts, jackets and any other apparel that will enhance safety should be used.

No alcoholic beverages will be allowed for this event! 

No ice chest will be allowed in the park for this event!

Concessions and restrooms will be available.
