March 15, 2009 - David W. Ryan
AThe 2010 Dirt Drag Racing Association’s (DDRA) first sanctioned points race will be held this Saturday at the Louisiana Off Road Race Park in Jonesville, La. Gates open at 8 AM with registration and Hot Passes starting at 10 AM.
Each truck will get two Hot Passes with elimination races for Stock ET starting at 2 PM.
All other classes start at 5 PM in the following order: 5.75 Breakout; Super Stock; Two-Wheel Drive; 4.20 Breakout; 5.00 Breakout; 4.60 Breakout; Pro ET and Big Block.
DDRA president and Park co-owner David McMillin said the season will have a few changes starting with two ET classes. “This year we are having two ET classes; Stock ET which is 5.76 or greater lapse time and Pro ET which is 5.75 or less lapse time.”
Rules for these two classes can be found under the Rules section on the dirtdragracing.com website (Stock ET or Pro ET).
McMillin also noted: “We are adding a 300 shot of nitrous to our 4.20 class this year.”
He went to say the DDRA has also added a side-by-side Arm Drop Points Division to this year’s lineup.
“The points system is the same as the drag racing and the payouts are posted on the website; along with the rules which are listed under Arm Drop Mud Drags.”
However, McMillin explained Arm Drop drivers must register their truck in order to qualify for points and payouts.
The Park has also added 16 new R.V. parking spots with water and electricity.
“We are renting those spots for $50 per night or $800 for the season,” McMillin said. “So if you are interested in one for the night or the year, call (318) 339-9220 and reserve you spot while they last.”
Also new to The Park this year, drivers will be able to purchase Base Fuels at the track.
As a little added bonus this year, all DDRA members will get a $50 a night rate at Edwards’ Motel in Jonesville. To reserve your rooms call (318) 339-8578 and ask for Mary.
