Large crowd on hand for first sanctioned Arm Drop

With the first ever sanctioned Arm Drop Mud Drags brought in the largest paying crowd of the year at the Louisiana Off Road Race Park. More than 800 fans made it to the back track at the Park for lots of exciting action Saturday, April 3, 2010.

“It was a beautiful day with a large crowd and lots of interest,” David McMillin, co-owner of the Park said about the race day. “We already have 20 members and more than 50 trucks participated in the races.”

Next Races at the Park

The Louisiana Off Road Race Park will host their second dirt drag race of the season on April 17th where upwards of 100 trucks will battle it out on the 300’ dirt track.

It is also the second Dirt Drag Racing Association (DDRA) sanctioned points race of the season at The Park located seven miles north of Jonesville.

Due to the rainout of the March 20th sanctioned points races, those races will resume at 12 noon.

DDRA President David McMillin noted: “If your truck was still in the March 20th race, please be at the track ready to run at 12 noon.”

Stock ET will start at 2 PM with Pro ET to follow until 5 PM. At 5 PM all other classes will start running their rounds.

The 60-acre park contains ample parking, restrooms, concessions, and souvenir t-shirts. Bleachers are available but you are welcome to bring your lawn chairs, grills, smokers, and ice chests (please no glass containers).

The Park also offers self-contained R.V. parking and camping space available for the weekend.

Gates open at 8 AM with registration at 10 AM. Admission is $15 for adults; children 12 and under $10; and free admission for children under five.

Members of the 7th Annual Our Downtown Poker Run to Benefit Jeff Dimauro were out selling raffle tickets: Bess McClure (counter clockwise), Rex Harrison, Kristy Estis, Kyle Holoman, Cindie Crawford, Billy Camp, Mindy Champlin-Camp, Jananine Smart and Billy Smart.

Driver come to the race board to see their draws and get last minute race instructions.

Thomas Zuccario, from Ferriday, has the pork steaks lineup and smelling good.

There were playing in the dirt with their own trucks until they heard the roar of the Big Trucks behind them. "Now which one is your daddy's truck?"

There was a lot of "human mud racing" going on too!

She just wanted to smile for the camera.
